Civic and school-based groups, along with other members of the community, leverage their time, energy and resources to conduct and host fundraising activities on behalf of SARAH’s mission. These community-led initiatives are critical to helping us fulfill our mission.

Current community event partners include the Guilford Education Association’s Annual Read-a-thon, Madison Wine Exchange’s Make the Holidays Sparkle tasting event, Knights of Columbus Fish Fry Fridays and Tootsie Roll Drives and many other generous community groups. We are grateful for their creativity and dedication to our mission.

As we enter this holiday season, I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your past support of the SARAH Foundation. Your generosity has played a vital role in our mission to empower individuals living with intellectual and/or other disabilities, ensuring they can lead independent and fulfilling lives.

This year, we are excited to share the story of Gavin, a remarkable young man whose journey highlights the importance of our work. From an early age, it was clear to Gavin’s mother that he would require ongoing support and care. Like many families, she faced the challenges of nurturing her adult child while balancing the demands of daily life. The need for community and connection became evident, as Gavin often felt isolated from the world around him.

In response to this need, Gavin’s mother, Linda, partnered with SARAH to create Gavin and Friends. Modeled after the successful SARAH Tuxis Harbor program, Gavin and Friends is a welcoming space where individuals can learn, grow, and thrive. Conveniently located just a short walk from the town green
in Guilford, this program fosters friendships and provides essential life skills in a supportive environment. Your past contributions have made it possible for us to create spaces like Gavin and Friends, which, along with our other programs, serve hundreds of individuals each year. This holiday season, we invite you to
consider making a donation to support individuals like Gavin. Your gift will not only help us continue to provide high-quality programs and services but will also have a profound impact on the lives of those we serve.

Friday Night Cooking Class with Mary…Benefits SARAH Foundation

Foodies Take Note:  Looking for something fun to do from the comfort of your own home, while benefitting a good cause? Join us for this unique fundraiser to benefit the SARAH Foundation!
Mary’s Culinary is hosting a virtual cooking class on Friday, March 26th from 5:30-6:30 PM. Cook alongside Mary and your friends and then enjoy a delicious home-made gourmet meal with your family!

A little about Mary…Mary has cooked her entire life.  She learned sitting on the counter as a young child, like most Italian children do, watching her mother baking and cooking traditional Italian cuisine. She spent many years working in the restaurant business and also working with children of all ages and abilities in New Haven Public Schools. Some of her classes are co-taught by her husband Greg who is an award winning culinary arts and restaurant management teacher at both the high school and college level.

This event is for all ages! Proceeds will benefit The SARAH Foundation. Ticket prices are $30 per household with an option to buy $10 raffle tickets for a chance to win a wine/baking/gift card basket valued over $250! Space is limited.

Virtual Barre Class – 100% of Your Donation Benefits the SARAH Foundation!

Join us for a Virtual Barre Class on March 20th at 9:30AM with Simone Gell of TrueForm! 100% of your donation for participating in this event will benefit the SARAH Foundation!  Get fit while giving back to our organization — a great way to start your day!

This barre class is designed for ALL levels. All you need is a mat, chair, and optional light hand weights.

To register, send your donation to Simone. The suggested donation is $25-50. Donations should be sent via Venmo to @Simone-Gell with a note SARAH Donation in the memo.

Fabulous Fish Fry Friday

The Knights of Columbus have begun their Fabulous Fish Fry Fridays! This year, instead of dining in, food will be available for purchase a la carte for curbside pick-up. Save the date for Friday, March 12th as a portion of the proceeds from this Fish Fry event will benefit the SARAH Foundation!

GEA Read-a-thon

The Guilford Education Association and Guilford Public Schools has supported the SARAH Foundation for decades through the SARAH Read-a-Thon. This is one of the the most successful community-organized fundraisers for the SARAH Foundation. Students in all of Guilford’s elementary and middle schools participate in this fundraiser, which is based off of pledges they receive for reading. Thank you to the GEA members past and present and the decades of Guilford students who have helped to support SARAH’s mission!

Madison Wine Exchange Tasting Events

Madison Wine Exchange hosts monthly tasting events open to the public. Each month the resident sommelier, Joe Dolce, selects a wine variety and/or geographic region and offers an in-depth tasting experience for guests to learn about the various wines and regions. The largest annual event, Make the Holiday’s Sparkle, takes place in November and is the best tasting experience you will have all year.
